Well, they could ban sgforums.
But technologically savvy pple can very easily, through internet proxies, access it again. Just like one can still very easily access youporn.
Unless they ban all internet proxies as well....
And following your logic, they might as well ban the whole of blogspot/wordpress/xanga as well, given that there are many blogs talking/"slandering" the government.
Or even google, so as not to allow you to be able to search for such stuff?

you are confusing Libel and slander... slander is by word of mouth... once said, its not plastered to the walls of the coffee shop... the owner of the coffee shop has no method of deleating spoken words...
but in a publication, the publisher bears responsibility to what it is printed... if Author X wrote a story that is defamatory and published by company Y, company Y bears no responsibility to what the auther wrote???

You don't understand the difference between forums and publications ah?
Each and every article in a publication is supposed to have been proof-read by a chief editor, as well as verified correct and true.
You try and find me a forum in which it will take responsibility for the accuracy of the posts. HWZ forums, Stomp Forums, CNA forums, youngPAP forums ==> All local ones.

So... if the matter was raised up and the owner of the forum knows about the defemation... then the next course of action for the owners would be to........

please note the seriousness of defemation... some of us might think its not a big deal, but imagine you're the owner of a shop and an unsatisfied customer decide to spread a false roumor that you're a child molestor.... soon after, you shop no longer have customer... that is how seriuos defemation...

And finally, if the IP is really owned/used by the culprit
I would really love to see someone who is determined to spend/waste that amount of money and time to dig out someone who defamed him online with a virtual name just once, and make the whole matter as big as possible. It would be fun.

None of them would want to take responsibility, the question is should they take the responsibility... in a legal perspective, yes they do... they are the owner of the publication and thus have to take responsibility for the defemation posted on their publication...
ofcourse I don't expect them to compensate for the damages, but it is expected for them to rectify the lies...
