However, the Taichun City Government denied it. Huang Hui-Ming of the government, told ThevNew Paper on Sunday that Emcom does not have any partnership with the Taichung City government as claimed.

Empire Communications Technology announced in Dec 2006 that it will make Taichung, the third largest city in Taiwan and the city with the highest IT users, fully wireless. The WiMAX system platform that EMCOM uses is the most advanced WiMAX backbone, using NLOS in the Wi-Fi wireless system construction to form a seamless thermal hotzone effect to take advantage of a strengthened wireless broadband network potency. The EM-Taichung project will complete and open to public in Jan 2008.

Empire Communications Technology announced in April 2007 that it will make Taipei, the largest city in Taiwan, fully wireless. Expected to complete some time in 2009.
