She Chose Me
She met my eyes and softly blinked,
the blink that says you're mine.
I touched her coat with loving hands,
she then revelled in her find.
Purring softly, resting in my arms,
I knew she found her place.
She took the spot saved in my heart,
for one with love and grace.
We touched that day my soul and hers,
and I was hers and she was mine.
This gentle soul, faithful and true,
became my friend sublime.
She gave to me of her company,
and softly meow or purr.
And lay herself upon my heart,
and petting soon I would impart.
Then thinking to myself I said,
I love you girl so very true.
She then so blinked so lovingly,
and said in thought, and I love you.
Her life was short, but so, so large,
the place she filled was mine.
I will miss my girl everyday,
and see her when our stars align.
