I would say the second half southampton played well and were the better team although risse striked the crossbar in the second half. but anyways this sets it up nicely for the big match on new year's day against chelsea.
Anyways, 3 points for the home team.

henchoz appears to be out of favour. Even Diao is ahead of him in the pecking order.

So Finnan is confirmed out of Chelski match?!
If so, it's a safer bet to play Henchoz with Carragher on the rite. Josemi is still injured (*whew* ) ...while playing Diao anywhere will be suicidal.
The youngsters will be too green for such a match...but maybe we haven't got much choice -

Or it's just a tactical gimmick ?
If that's the case , no harm playing Henchoz , let him enjoy some big game before leaving .
Henchoz can be deploy as right back too....
Carragher , Hyypia , Henchoz and Riise is always my prefered defensive line !
