I doubt pool can bring in all of those they want... maybe 2 or 3...
then get 2nd.... then buy a few more... serious bid will be the season after next.... -
Ah Ben have been given three seasons to prove his worth.
After seeing Liverpool struggling against team from the lower part of the table, I am sad to say that Ah Ben dun actually care or want to win the EPL.
I cannot even name the best 10 1st team players for Liverpool. (Except for the goal keeper and the defenders)
He is unable to inspire each players to play his best for every single match.
Every single players seem to be saving their legs for the CL match during the EPL match before.
Therefore, buying star players will not solve the basic problem of weak tactics.
Rafa is not even taking responsibility of the defeat in the CL final for his wrong strategy.
Instead, he is shifting the attention on the players that he need to buy, thus implying that Liverpool lost due to lack of depth.
I dun think Ah Ben will be able to win the EPL title during his reign. -

1) 4-5-1 offers a compact midfield.
Kaka couldn't do much throughout the game because Javier Mascherano was constantly on his toes.
2) Their players were too used to their passing game and their defenders flumbled and lose the ball constantly because they couldn't find anyone to pass to in midfield.
3) Pirlo's goal from free kick is a lucky deflection.
4) We created more than three chances to score in the first half. Our players lacked the finishing touch.
If we have a player like Izaghi in our side, we would have won the game!
I think Rafa's favorite formation is 4-5-1.
One holding midfielder (Javier) + 2 attacking CM (Gerrard + Lucas Levia)
2 wingers who can score goals (currently we have none, Pennant was his second choice...Alves/Simao would be able to score more than him)
I believe Rafa will be looking at:
1) LB - Riise is pants. Milan knows he is the weakest link in defence and focused all their attacks from our left.
2) LM + RM + SC - Three players who can score goals.
I don't believe Rafa will win EPL next season...but I think he knows what he is doing. -
Our play has been more all-round .... a sign of little improvement ...
Better than no improvement .
Bit by bit .... we willa chieve our eventual target , maybe 2009 .... definitely not 2007/2008 .... unless with a bit of luck thru'out . -

With regards to the thread title... I agreed wif Poolman's short and simple take.
The back fours are rather sound, if not... effective and no-frills. The fans are happy that young and very promising Agger is showing immense skills, mentality and maturity at the higest level.
Again, the midfield are sound and effective but still weak on the wings which our strikers depends alot on it. Right now, the system is over killing Kuyt's ability to have a decent shot at goal and running too rugged at the same time.
Goes the same for Crouch... we have the tallest in EPL bt the ineffective wingers does not allow much field time for Crouch bcos of that tactical reason. Pennant redeemed some bit but I still feel he is too inconsistent.
All in all.. despite these shortfalls... the all-round play is quite good. Much more tactically disciplined and better mentality on the field. They jus lacked the cutting edge in the front third and from the wings. -

Even so, we can see that we do lack the cutting edge to kill off the game from the players themselves. So I say it's not jus the coach to blame. -
What i feel abt liverpool is not that they have a weak team. The crux of the problem is they bring in many talented players each year and this tilts the balance of the club. Feels more like a market than a club and the ever changing style of play definitely is not doing the club any good. To me players like bellamy and gonzales ane good player..Put them in a team like spurs and they will perform.
But back to this thread..Defence is solid enough...I think whats most impt is get a tricky winger and most importantly another central mid who have an eye for goal, some one who is constantly look to get into the action.
I see..boa morte, pedersen and kevin nolan as good choice. Not big names at all but surely adept in their respective positions. -
Our wingers are okay. They just lack goals. Pennant have only scored once if im not wrong and he shld be more selfish.Gonzalez no need to say, but i was really impressed with Fabio Aurelio, playin so well but getting a career threatening injury. Steven Gerrard don look as effective at the right but he still contributes a lot. We miss players for the big games like Luis Garcia, who can score during big matches and is quite skilful with the ball, just have to practice not to lose it. S Finnan? Getting older alr, may retire soon and thats where Alves will use the time to get use to the League if we managed to buy him.
Just a statistic, but liverpool wingers have done well to supply crosses. 80 percent of Liverpool goals are crosses or played from both wings. Not forgetting Kuyt who i think have quite a handful of assists too.
We really lack goals from the wings but i think they are doing their part at crosses.

The center of the park oreadi crowded with talented players in Stevie G, Maschereno, Alonso & Sissoko so I feel that's enuff. That is, if Stevvie G plays as a attacking C mid than the alternative right winger.

it is a practise set piece by ac milan
inzaghi and pirlo did this to Inter Milan and Empoli(according to the ucl commentator)

Inzaghi try to head the ball during ucl but fail to but still he used his shoulder and deflect into an empty net -

when stevie g is off form, the whole team looks lost. -
steven gerrard this season perfomance was average not up to standard
he need to score more and assist more
kuyt is obviously not good enuff
crouch is very suitable for benitez playstyle and yet he dun play him 1st team regularly
and get a backup center back , a good backup keeper just in case reina get injure and naturally right winger and 2 strikers to be able to challange for the title -
i really hope hyypia can stay for another season or two. even at his age, his experience and reading of the game has still been terrific during the last season.
benitez should not make the same mistake like mourinho and be satisfied with only two stable center-backs especially when there is no more defenders near the calibre of carragher, agger and hyypia.
also, i absolutely hope the rumour is nowhere true about offloading riise. -

liverpool need to have winning desire. i dun see any passion wif them n even gerrard sometime also off-form. should gerrard play badly, the squad will break too.
as an arsenal supporter, i dun mind liverpool to win the league too next season (of course arsenal is my top choice).
