Do you think Houllier will last till the end of the season?Or will we see a resignation or sack?
I will love to see the gaffer leave his position but being the stubborn man he is will not allow it to happen.He has spent so much money on players,almost 100 million pounds i must add.But at the end of the day,the team is still reliant on several key players.Michael Owen,Harry Kewell and Steven Gerrard.Mind you 2 of these 3 were already at Anfield when Houllier took over and Kewell came from Leeds on a cheap.
So where did the money go to?Bruno Cheyrou,Igor Biscan,EL Hadji Diouf,Salif Diao.That's almost 25 million already.Not to mention 11 million pound striker?Emile Heskey.Did I say Striker?Sheesh.
Money aside,the tactics the gaffer uses on the team is more often than not highly questionable.From fielding Kewell on the right to Heskey in midfield.Salif Diao at Right back and 2 defensive midfielders in the middle.These are really reallly wierd decisions.
So the team is languishing in mid table mediocrity and the team is relying on raw Sinama Pongolle for goals.Le Tellac to make something special.The defence is leaking goals and it's not surprising at all with Biscan in the middle.His poor positioning is cause for a lot of goals conceeded this season.
So what now Houllier?The fans have heard too much of "I think we should have won the game" and "We were without several key players" or "we will turn the corner".After all that money spent,we are still relying on key players to win matches?
Frankly,I can't see Houllier keeping his job next season.End of this season,maybe.But after,not quite. -
