lets say Mr X is a diploma holder...
Case 1...
he gets posted to SCDF to do his NS....he wants to sign on as a paramedic specialist during his SCDF BMT...how does he do it?
Case 2...
he gets posted to SPF to do his NS...he wants to sign on and wants to be in the SOC after his training stint in TRACOM...how does he do it?
and what are his chances of getting what he wants on the respective 2 cases? -
apply for it at the website.. no difference where you posted to... and not every where is BMT... BMT is basic military training.. the rest of the place is just call training... there is no military in SCDF or POLICE.... we are peaceful people

is there like a place or a person u can tell that u wanna sign on in the respective 'groups'? -
Walao...surely if you want to sign on in both cases, you wont be the only one right? There will be people to ask, there will be resources to grap. If you die die want to know now so that you can plan, then there is simply one more reliable source...the official internet website.
Unless, of coz, you have questions to ask beyond what is available there, then I dont think we can help you much? -

well, if u serve NS in SPF, ur chances of getting selected for regular is generally higher. want to direct post to SOC is not a very wise choice....rather he go be NPCO, from there are more doors opened. if go SOC direct very hard to post to 'good' places.

hmmm....SOC is the last place you want to go..it is really boring unless you like to train and train.. better join army like this...

I am not pissed lah, but at least for your own sake, try to graps as much info as you can via the SPF carrer site first lah. Its not a very wise idea to rely solely on a forum like this loh, with all due respect to everyone... -

as for signing on as a regular while you are serving NS, i will advise you to consider first..... most cases are successful while you are able to sign on as regular while you are serving NS.... but its not 100% guarantee... so its better to consider which career is your main interest and sign on before you start you NS....

one impt advise to you is that, to be part of the civil service is also the same as working in the private sector.... dont just join them becos you wanna "siam army", "good pay", "lobo job" etc etc..... with these mindset, i can guarantee that you will be leaving at the end of the first contract....
we do have high turn over for civil services and most of them are mainly becos they feel that its not the ideal job or "too much paper work" in the current job...
join us because of passion and interest not because of other "materialistic" reasons, or you will feel pressured while you are in it just like any govt job like nurses, teacher, SAF, SPF etc etc....
so are you in for it? -

well...i'l take my time and decide uh...still think SOC is cool though..dont mind the tough training as i like to be challenged with harder tasks...hehehz...thanks for all the replies.. -

but think about it.... you are going to handle dogs for 20 years in your career? or SOC for 20 years?
its more advisable to go thru, ground work(NPCO), admin and investigation before consider to go to specialist.... -
