BMT is basic military training.. the rest of the place is just call training... there is no military in SCDF or POLICE.... we are peaceful people
hehe....sori sori....my fren from CD finally reply my 2 week old sms....Originally posted by huaiwei:Walao...surely if you want to sign on in both cases, you wont be the only one right? There will be people to ask, there will be resources to grap. If you die die want to know now so that you can plan, then there is simply one more reliable source...the official internet website.
Unless, of coz, you have questions to ask beyond what is available there, then I dont think we can help you much?
I dont know...maybe its the exams.Originally posted by sidestep1984:hehe....sori sori....my fren from CD finally reply my 2 week old sms....

Hahaha...seems like you REALLY have an issue with the greens hor? I am one also leh.Originally posted by houndy:yup... not say we are very friendly with army guys... esp everytime must help them arrest AWOL personnel...
for case one pls refer toOriginally posted by sidestep1984:lets say Mr X is a diploma holder...
Case 1...
he gets posted to SCDF to do his NS....he wants to sign on as a paramedic specialist during his SCDF BMT...how does he do it?
Case 2...
he gets posted to SPF to do his NS...he wants to sign on and wants to be in the SOC after his training stint in TRACOM...how does he do it?
and what are his chances of getting what he wants on the respective 2 cases?
For it to make sense, it should be the regular pay liao. Although the experts shd confirm this one lah.Originally posted by sidestep1984:if one is in his basic training....and signs on...which pay table will he follow?...with nsf or without nsf?
confusing eh the home team...Originally posted by huaiwei:For it to make sense, it should be the regular pay liao. Although the experts shd confirm this one lah.![]()
the home team is NEVER confusing.... usually is those people that wanted to sign on that is confusing....Originally posted by sidestep1984:confusing eh the home team...
i seeOriginally posted by qazplm:the home team is NEVER confusing.... usually is those people that wanted to sign on that is confusing....
normally if you sign on during your NS days, you pay will be "without ns" pay...
thats why i told you to consider which one to sign on(if you are interested)before going for NS.....
regardless whats on your mind, i shall not comment further....Originally posted by sidestep1984:i see
well keeping my options open u see.....
havent gotten my enlistment letter...taking ages man......
i wanna join army actually but the number of applicants is more than the positions offered from what i heard from my cousin...... just widening my perspective on the other services bcos never put much thought into them...thats all...i find being a paramedic or in the SOC/dog unit really appealing and i guess 'new'.....Originally posted by qazplm:regardless whats on your mind, i shall not comment further....
one impt advise to you is that, to be part of the civil service is also the same as working in the private sector.... dont just join them becos you wanna "siam army", "good pay", "lobo job" etc etc..... with these mindset, i can guarantee that you will be leaving at the end of the first contract....
we do have high turn over for civil services and most of them are mainly becos they feel that its not the ideal job or "too much paper work" in the current job...
join us because of passion and interest not because of other "materialistic" reasons, or you will feel pressured while you are in it just like any govt job like nurses, teacher, SAF, SPF etc etc....
so are you in for it?![]()
i see i see...Originally posted by houndy:if you want something new... then better be NPCO.. everyday is a new thing.. choose A division or E division if you want to see many many many things.. but of course be prepared to work hard too lah...
specialist isnt that bad....Originally posted by sidestep1984:i see i see...
well...i'l take my time and decide uh...still think SOC is cool though..dont mind the tough training as i like to be challenged with harder tasks...hehehz...thanks for all the replies..
i see...going thru what u said is a good way of 'ticket punching' huh....ground work, admin and investigation is all rolled into one right?Originally posted by qazplm:specialist isnt that bad....
but think about it.... you are going to handle dogs for 20 years in your career? or SOC for 20 years?
its more advisable to go thru, ground work(NPCO), admin and investigation before consider to go to specialist....![]()
lolx.... sad to say.... NO..... its not complusary.... but its advisable as it will be an "advantage" in terms of ranking/promotion exercise... it will also equip u with neccessary skills to be a PO.....Originally posted by sidestep1984:i see...going thru what u said is a good way of ticket punching huh....ground work, admin and investigation is all rolled into one right?
i wonder how one gets into forensics...will the spf send him for the relevant training?...or does he need to have the relevant education qualifications first?Originally posted by qazplm:lolx.... sad to say.... normally you will be on ground after Police academy... then it will be up to you to apply for internal posting like management post(admin/operational) and to be an investigator.... and usually you should be at least three years in service before you apply for those post....![]()
