cant sign on police anymore

heard that there is too many police in the force now and they intend to cut down on the number..i cant apply to join the police online last night..its closed already.

got too many meh? i dnt see them wen fights break out or robberies are comited.. i actually see more of them buyg food during lunch hour...

well eating is important... if we know when the robberies and fight is committed... there wont be a need for extra manpower...

SOs got too much, POs i not so sure though but i won't sign on PO cos of some new 'ceiling' rule dat is invisibly applied to ALL JOs, be it u join now or is lau jiao....sigh.....alot of hopes are dashed, my friend told me alot of stuff a week or so ago......
but IF, IF and only IF, i sign on, i will be SO but dat will be my last path i will take when i graduate. -

btw, what's this 'ceiling' rule? Can junior officers be promoted to the senior officer ranks? Or like SAF max out as a top NCO (SI)? -

they are a bunch of people trying their level best..... they might not deserved good words from you, but they dont deserved words like what you have just said above..
to be frank... we all are taxpayers... hahaha... maybe post more suggestions on speaker corner to see how can the govt improve in years to come? -

this is a BUS interchange oni BUSSES n vehicles who have OFFICIAL BUSINESS can enter. Even for those who are on official business, ther is a proper lot for them to park which the cops NEVER USE.
bout 2 - 3 cops in uniform will waltz out n go tah pau lunch from the hawker centre....
if they r officially on duty patroling the area or attending to a call i wldnt find it an eyesore. -

i dnt expect them to b psychic, but hey, honestly mayb its all down to jus bad scheduling of duty n patrol hours.... so i guess i shdnt blame the grunts.
n ps. if u knw any of the guys who are on duty at tuas checkpoint. tell them to take a lesson from the gurkas n task force guys n hav a little respect for their uniforms... they always luk like they jus woke up from a nap in the backroom...
n btw... its not tt i wana make them luk bad. or i wana make false accusation. its n outright fact tt many do not dare to bring up or speak in public about. too bad tt a few rotten apples have tarnished my concept of their image.

me is no spokesperson..... lol.... just voicing out like another singaporean... different kind of duties have difference kind of working pattern, that includes lunch too... they are human too.... as for parking might be given "approval" by sbs transit.... usually.... i will advice people to send it "feedbacks" to SDI in PHQ if they wanna complain.... trust me, i cant find anything in the Police Force Act that stop officers from eating in public(which i used to see last time)... and now i only see them buying food and disappear(must be due to alotsa complain).... quite sad.... cos usually with policeman around there are certain deterrence in terms of their presence....
i do agree that there might be some rotten apples that have tarnished SPF image, and the organisation itself is also trying hard(as i can see in the newspapers) to "spot them out".... but i do found out that its not only exist in SPF, organisation like SAF are also affected.... i donno which era you are from... but i do witness myself those days when both SPF and SAF officers starch their uniforms and behave smartly with full respect to their uniforms... but nowadays, even i can see "smart 4" are no longer that smart as worn by some officer... its quite sad but true.... even nowdays uniform group in schools are "not up to standard" as those days.... i believe you get what i mean....
i do personally heard from friends that they received those kind of poor "service" render by some officers and i believe you had some how or rather did encounter the same thing too?
i usually give them the benefit of doubts as i sees them as human which i believe this is what most Singaporean do too..... perhaps things like driving unsafe and smoking in uniform etc will make me lose faith in them....

p.s. about the taxpayer phrase... keke... can you believe i heard "hey i pay tax one also leh" from a member of public talking to a policeman a few days back.... and that member of public seems like thinking they are more "superior" and policeman are 2nd class citizen.. *sigh* what a society i am living in...

Ranting is one thing....voicing out your opinions to the right channel, and pin-pointing the correct target is just as important. You seem to take personal offence with mata chias parking in bus interchanges. Well fine. Why not have them park at normal parking lots which u guys are all jostling to park in, and tell if you are going to stop cursing them too?
Finally, you refered to some "guys" at Tuas checkpoint. May I know exactly WHO you are talking about, because there are like at least 3 organisations providing uniformed security personnel there? -

I wont mind telling the complt i pay taxes too.. hahaha.. anyway just to say a point... might be long winded...
People tend to find fault cause as police we are law enforcers.. we follow the book.. we might be flexible but to a certain extend.. as many people wont know the law.. they think what they do is always correct and others is always wrong.. so to be spotchecked or questioned by an officer.. they think they are begin suspected as crooks.. but then how we know one is a crook until we check on them.. many people are actually wanted for petty things which they might not know.. like failing to attend court or missing an invesitagtion...
Speeding is always a good complain. Police car speeding. But then how would one know if the car is attending to an emergency.. people are plain selfish.. they only think of themself.. that is why.. they dont know the head or tail, they just see the middle. Then the worse i heard was people actually complaining that TRAFFIC POLICE is going over the speed limit on the expressway.. HELLO, if TP dont go faster than you, how will they ever catch a speeder by travelling at 90KM.. it is like so DUH....
Then what is wrong with officers buying food, like i say we are also human. You people are also human, and sitting in office well dont need much energy. No need for lunch i suppose.. hmm... Also in a country where you can sleep peacefully or even go out at night.. it aint that bad right... -

wow this topic very interesting... really different comments from different mindsets...
But, typically... pple dislike police becoz... there are those 'black sheeps'. Police used to have many many "benefits" but, think now... its nearly all gonez....
Just to share with you all..... police force is a place whereby, they also have "laws" for them to abide....
Maybe, I am wrong.. but traffic police just can't speed to chase speeders... they need to report back using walkies (if I m not wrong) that, they spotted a speeding car.. and seek permission to speed... so as to chase the car..
Police officer can be also being complaint and marked.... They are humans too.. but, they have to live up a good reputation..and set a good example.. becoz, in the government's eyes.. they must be the last person to go against the law..
When they check on you.. and sound demanding.. that's probably, becoz.. they need to show some authority..They do not know you... hence, what if you are those rebellious type.. then, you don want to co-operate....
