Sometimes when we learn to expect less from something, it might just turn out to be more enjoyable afterall. I aleady expected the SPF to be a place where people could do anything to get what they want, as is true in just about any other place, except its sometimes over-emphasized here. Btw, what he say is quite right. That question would apply to VSCs too. I have great doubts that the majority mean what they say when they gloat about wanting to "serve" the community. -

Signon PO - definitely not as the pay is pretty shitty & promotion for PO just sux.. cos I do them every year.
Signon SO - you'll need a degree, if you get 1st class honours/2nd upper .. u'd get direct entry ASP which is not bad. promotion to next rank would take about 3-5 years? correct me if im wrong.
another bad point is that your actions are constantly scrutinized.. even a traffic offence is recorded and you might forfeit your annual performance bonus.. which really sucks IMO. it also affects your personal life when you have to do shift duty.. (1 day shift.. 1 night shift.. 2 days rest) and you end up not having much time to spend with your family.
its an iron rice bowl.. just do what u have to do.. not too much pressure to perform. however.. even the minumum level of work required can be quite demanding if you're an investigating officer (imagine working 30 hours straight without rest).
in the end.. the choice is yours... =) gdluck -
In the SPF, not all jobs are created equal..
Some not worth it for the peanuts they pay you and some so sinang you feel bad gettting paid ...
With the exception of some unit which got allowance... everyone gets the same pay according to rank, no matter what Job you are actually doing..
THAT is the sore point for many pple..
And dun bother to apply if r u are a nice person...

Promotion is based on how you "show" you work la! and 1 think you have to be liked by your superiors... or else kena condemned like siao.... If you are aware out Sg idol he is still and SC/CPL tho... I remembered the time when we had SAFSA and Polce SA had a soccer match. Think it was in 1999. Commisioner and Chief of Army were present.
To my surprise, CP went up to Chief or Army and saluted.
I was wondering who is higher in hierachy since both personels were head of 2 different uniformed groups -

I'm also sure the Army Chief's pay is much higher ...
Malaysia's Police chief is also higher rank than our CP, his rank is IGP (Inspector General of Police)
size got abit to do with this ...Our army chief Rank's is also smaller compare to other chiefs in the region... -
Well, to what i know, those Chief of army, Chief of defence force or Chief of staffs in other countries in the region has been to war. That's the reason why they obtain the rank of Full General. (4 stars )
Unlike ours, but i believe, the appointment is more recognised.
Like a CO in the army can be a lieutenant colonel, and so is the 2IC.
So the appointment of the CO is higher, thus, The 2IC still address the CO, who is of the same rank SIR
