Hello guys! this might be out of context but i was just wondering if anyone here is from or has worked with the Singapore Prisons Service before? Could you share your experience and give your opinion as to whether it is a worthwhile career to pursue? I am thinking of joining as a Senior Officer and am due to attend the selection soon. Some advice would be extremely helpful and appreciated! Thanks!

I have not signed on yet, just going for the selection assessment. Still have to depend on whether they want me or not first! In any case, I will like to find out more about the Prison Service, any comments? Thanks!

Like other MHA departments over SPF, depending on how you look at it, got the advantage/disadvantage of more focus/limited workscope
Worked with them in courts, the general impression is that they got better welfare than SPF..
what stopped me from joing them is I oredi dun like the escorting and lock-ups duties (sianz) in SPF , which I assume would be worst in Prisons
Some more I dun like the idea of working in a Prison., feels like going to prison yourself.. -

I went for the selection assessment today. Just some psychometric test. Still have to wait and see if I get shortlisted for interview.... I was quite surprised to find that there were quite a handful of females! I guess ladies' ideal of a job has changed!
Hmm, the place seems quite peaceful though, but no idea what goes on behind the jail doors, haha! Well, I dont think working there is like going to a prison yourself lah, if you are unhappy with your job, it would also be like a prison itself!

Lots of females? Not to surprised....the police itself is trying to recruit alot more females now than males. Height Minimum 1.62m (Male)
Weight Minimum 54kg (Male)
PES Status A or B Exempted
At least 18 years old
( not sure about this , last time I got squad mate who is underage..)
Good eyesight
Applicants must have normal colour vision.
Male or female applicants with at least 5 GCE 'O' Level credits* or NITEC (formerly ITE-NTC2)
Certified medically fit
Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident
*Those with less than 5 GCE 'O' level credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
if you meet the above surely qualify for prisons -

Hey, The police is also recruiting for SPOs...now i am thinking...should i apply for it too? I am already going to attend the Prisons interview soon...this is so timely....any advice?
