Are the SOF sent there? STAR sent there?
Anybody heard of the STS (SPecial Task Squandron), they are under PCG.
So can any SPF members share whether the STS are under the STAR or the Special Operations Command? Or a unit by itself of PCG?
Btw not to say which unit good or bad... SOF selection is 3 weeks long, STAR selection is 1 week. Is 1 week enough to select elites among so many applicants?
Should STAR lengthen its selection phase longer?
Lastly, the STS is very much not heard by many and info abt them are scarce and even non-existant.... I came across one of their poster and one of the selection requirement is Silver for IPPT... -
the STAR logo is enough to make me think of joining up....

STS is under command of PCG. STS personnel train with STAR personnel on certain occasions but they are ultimately trained for marine assault.

STAR is part of the Singapore Police Force. The personnel in STAR are Police Officers.
SOF are part of Singapore Armed Forces. They are military men.
STAR is essentially the SWAT team of Singapore. If there is war. The commandos will of cos fight the war. Not STAR. STAR is used to enforce the law in high risk situations. For example, Hijackings of bus, airliners. Hostage situations. So on and so forth. Star is heli-ops capable. And can also handle ops at sea. They are cross trained.
Ok, some may wonder why have STAR when we have SOF? THis is because. STAR members are police officers. The main difference between a STAR member and a SOF member is, a STAR member has arresting powers. SOF members do not.
STAR is formed to enforce the law. SOF is to protect our country.

SOF - trainings in military operations and can be deployed behind enemy lines to secure key installations and counter terrorist operations... blah blah blah.... mostly land operations and air insertions
DELTA FORCE - NAVY SOF - same but mostly naval Special operations
STAR Team - does mostly homeland duties and slacking around happens ( not ture lah) sometimes kanna used as search party for missing ppl lol... but they handle everything and anything withing singapore boundries... -
