If only that is the way the SPF functions. Then we wont have so much vertical intergration problems?Originally posted by houndy:Even uni grad becomes a PC..then promote to SGT..then after that what i heard is 10yrs as SGT then they will be an inspector...

I don't think Jackie Chan (the character he's playing) is a sergeant. There are 3 pips both on his shoulder board each. He is a senior inspector. Not long after the start of the movie, he is addressed as such, i.e. Senior Inspector Chan.Originally posted by Prodigy:jackie chan quite poor thing right.... last time, he is a sergeant..now also a sergeant...never promote one..haha
It used to be like that in the past.Originally posted by houndy:Even uni grad becomes a PC..then promote to SGT..then after that what i heard is 10yrs as SGT then they will be an inspector...
Dont worry, Glock will be use in matter of time for men on the grounds. Currently, dept like STS(PCG), STAR(SOC), GC etc are trained with and they are using it.Originally posted by yst:I don't think Jackie Chan (the character he's playing) is a sergeant. Wah, I didn't know HK police (as portrayed in the movie) uses Glock 19 as standard issue for their plain-clothes staff. See already, I start drooling liao....
Hmm..... Good question... Personally, I feel its better than what I expected initially..... This show he (Jackie) cried alot..... more emotion, slightly less action.....Originally posted by X-men:Is it worth watching?
IC... Think I have been living in the olden days? When policemen still wore shorts?Originally posted by qazplm:It used to be like that in the past.
As for now, they have Degree holders to be qualified as Inspector too. Just like SPF.
but they pay really good. My HK friend said that a job in the civil service is always an iron rice bowl, provided you do not get checked by the ICAC. And the pay for an inspector is more than S$5! not forgetting the perks too.Originally posted by houndy:Even uni grad becomes a PC..then promote to SGT..then after that what i heard is 10yrs as SGT then they will be an inspector...
I mean S$5k, not $5.Originally posted by arrggh:but they pay really good. My HK friend said that a job in the civil service is always an iron rice bowl, provided you do not get checked by the ICAC. And the pay for an inspector is more than S$5! not forgetting the perks too.
Well I will be watching it tomorrow (actually today), so I shall give a verdict on that?Originally posted by X-men:Is it worth watching?
Not exactly. My friend is paid a little more than S$2k and he is a HKU graduate. I think they pay the policemen so well because of the higher inherent risk in their job. We always hear of shootout and gang fights in HK and the dangers posed to the policemen there are real.Originally posted by houndy:Their standard of living is high, so paid more. They make about twice as much as us in terms of salary.
We here it in singapore often, but i think the people have not much balls to face our SOC... :pOriginally posted by arrggh:Not exactly. This guy is madOriginally posted by huaiwei:Alright here is a short verdict before I make a more detailed "report" after more have watched it...
Well if you have at least read a little reviews on it, the synopsis, and the trailers, you might have expected the movie to be littered with cop corpses.
I would just say that you will be dissapointed if that is what you want to see!
Indeed I strongly believe that their pay are higher due to the involvement and high risk in their job.Originally posted by arrggh:Not exactly.
