  Personally, I think IRC is a sad place to be unless you're chatting with people you know in real life. The people I've met there are either perverts, gays, lians, bengs or sad teenage boys trying to snare a girlfriend. It's really quite funny to see some kid say "Does anyone want to be my girlfriend?" on the main chatroom. It's a fact that 99% of the users logged on to IRC are guys. Just try using a femenine nickname and you see your IRC light up like a X'mas tree. And the kind of lewd messages that the guys use to start the conversation just makes me feel sorry for them. I mean come on, I'm sure there're better things to do on IRC than to look for sex. But then again, I've never had a nice conversation with anyone on IRC. Most of the people I've talked to can't seem to spell or speak properly. The amount of grammar mistakes is atrocious! No, don't get me wrong. I don't look down on people who get low marks for English. I just find it really tough to understand the lians and bengs on IRC.

  it's not the grammer mistake they hav.. but they are toking in irc way... the short cut language.. if u cant understand wat my way of language is.. den i'm sorry.

  seldom go IRC nowadays liao..... but got a few frans from IRC.....

  there are certainly some who have so-called split-personalities, but i think most are not like that. and since u know what is said on irc is probably rubbish, u dun take it too seriously lor. treat it as entertainment ba.. like how edlow always entertain us with his failed tiao bo li jian attempts

  Trust me...there are people with crap grammar mistakes. I understand abbreviations but not mixed up sentences

  I started to IRC in 1996?
  went biking with a certain channel...
  made lotsa friends...
  til now... been in IRC for last 7 years...
  and i'm still in contact with some of the friends that i made so far...
  Not forgetting... i met my girlfriend for the first time in a "IRC" coffee session too...

  irc was hot and hip before icq came along.
  
  then all the ppl who used irc to talk to ppl they already noe rather than to noe new ppl moved to icq.

  i like to talk to pple i already know too but i prefer using irc than icq... maybe cos i'm more used to the look of it ba... plus there's always a chance to know some new pple when u talk in the main channel and others join in... i dun really like pte msg from pple though

  depends.. some irc the main chann machiam dead town although there r aloto ppl in the chann.
