  About Sugar Cane drinks
  A friend whose pa works for the government health inspection
  passed on this info. Their job is to inspect all hawkers, their cooked food,
  their store hygiene, etc. They found sugar cane juice has the highest
  content of bacteria among all food. In fact, it has exceeded the set
  limit. Hence, these guys had to find out why. They went around all sugar cane stores and watched the way the hawkers handled their sugar cane, wash their glasses, their entire
  procedure.
  But they couldn't find the problem. One day, they stayed till closing time and
  discovered some shocking facts! Whenever, the hawkers closed their stores,
  they would wash the floor with detergent. As we know, the remaining sugar
  canes will be placed at the back of the store, vertically standing and as sugar
  canes are very porous, they tend to absorb whatever liquid around them.
  Besides the soapy water, the dirt on hawkers' boots, cats'urine, etc, will all be absorbed.
  
  Now, whenever I eat at a hawker centre, I would warn all my friends about this and
  of course I stopped drinking my favourite sugar cane juice.
  
  A friend, who loved sugar cane juice, was pregnant. She was always drinking
  sugar cane juice. Anyway, one day she miscarried and the foetus was already
  like 6 or 7 months old, I think. When the doctors did an autopsy to find out why
  all of a sudden the foetus had died inside her, they found traces of some chemical
  substance, which was found in cat urine. Large traces of it.
  While it would not be able to harm adults,! it was extremely toxic to babies, what more a foetus?
  So they tried to determine how this cat urine thing could have ended up in the foetus. This meant that it had to be digested by the mother, right? And the only logical conclusion they could come up with was that since these sugar cane juice stall holders just leave the canes lying around on the wet and dirty floor, it would not be impossible to think that stray
  cats could have peed on those sugar canes or near those sugar canes. So think carefully the next time you order that favourite sugar cane juice!

  Nowadays they chop up the sugar canes and put in fridge... Some of them place a pail of water to hold the sugar canes...
  
  Anyway... There's something else which I wanna add? Many food also very 'UNHYGENIENE' what... Maybe even some restaurants and hotel's ones...? It's just that you don't get to see it...?

  i prefer DIY sugar cane juice. Buy abt 1 metre long and chew on it by meysle ffor the juice................shiok!~

  i hope they read this and ponder.
  maybe next time they should at least chop off the ends of the sugar cane in contact with the dirty floor before sending them to tthe roller crusher.
  
  we cannot stop everything, but at least both parties should think
  and show some consideration. business got to go on,
  and we cannot stop ppl drinking the sugar juices.

  aiyah...so many thing also hygenic...
  if wanna say abt hygene, den last time lei? our grandparents also survived wad...if everywhr also clean den our nxt generation will suffer de...cos once see bacteris, get all the rashes n stuffs, more toublesome rite?

  not everything also need to be 100% clean de...
  even condom also say 99.9% safe, but dere's always dat 0.1% unsafe lor...

  i think most sugar canes nowadays come to the stalls chopped into about a metre in length only... dont think so many stalls keep them the old style any more... agree that many places are more unhygenic in their own ways too... saw too many... but i think we wont die from eating those... if you are really picky on sugar cane juice, dont drink loh, buy packet ones... where they add preservatives... or just eat home cooked food...

  last time we catch long gow fish all dat, play soccer in muddy fields without shoes, nowadays kids all stay at home play games lah, play soccer also got shinguard, high socks etc...now wonder always bit of stuff then sick lah, hospital lah....sigh. ever noticed dat we are not as 'strong' as our parents ?
