Middlesbrough's UEFA Cup adventure continued with an easy 2-0 victory over a very poor Lazio side at the Riverside. Two goals from Bolo Zenden, either side of half-time, were the finer points to a victory which was fully deserved and which firmly announces Middlesbrough's arrival on the continental stage. Elsewhere, Alan Shearer and Craig Bellamy teamed up to fire Newcastle United past Dinamo Tbilisi with a 2-0 win at St James' Park. Graeme Souness' side dominated throughout and were never really troubled by the visitors.

lets see how far can they proceed.. with the confidence of winning the league cup the other time, I am sure they might be able to bring on that level of confidence into EUFA competition

Looking at the teams in the UEFA cup this season, there is'nt much quality in the list. I won't be surprised if the eventual winner turns out to be one of those Champions League group stage reject teams.
