Students should be given more freedom to change their CCAs

In certain secondary schools, the teacher in charge of CCAs just anyhow put you into a CCA eg. NCC, which cannot be quitted according to MOE, and then they tell you to try out for half a year and see if it is really unsuitable for you.
However, after half a year, when u find that it is really unsuitable for you and u cannot take the trainings, when u tell them u want to quit, they will show you what MOE says about LEAPs points...if u quit then you cannot go to JC.
Thus, they make u stay in that CCA.
However, there is another reason why they dun allow u to quit. For example in NCC, when u quit, it is said that points will be cut off from your school and it thus may affect whether your school gets Gold, Silver or Bronze award.
I heard that some people from other schools successfully quitted NCC, but why are there still some schools which dun allow students to change their CCAs freely?
Well, i am trying to quit NCC, and i spoke to both the CCA teacher and the NCC teacher in charge in my school already. But both disagree. They ask me go see doctor and get a MC saying that i am too fat and unfit for trainings, but then would doctors give MCs easily? I may be fat, but i really cannot do pumping, and i really dun wan to stay in NCC anymore.
Can anyone suggest me a good way to quit? Thx. -
Whoever said that you need a CCA to go JC, it's only if your grades are not good and you need those LEAP points to pull you up.
Work hard and score those grades, and don't give a damn to your CCA. -
Thanks for ur suggestion, but i am in Integrated Programme, so no need to take O Level. This programme is flawed.I don't suppose you've seen the shortcomings?
Your IP program means that you go straight to JC right, so what's with this additional barrier to entry?Shouldn't it be a seamless move from your first two years in the IP to the third and fourth year?

ahahahaha. all of singaporen's education system is rubbish la. in the end its about brainwashing. only difference is how nicely disguised that brainwashing is.

was in NCC too when i was fat in sec 1.. was forced to quite but managed to stay in the end. It is tough at first.. treated like dogs.. literally but trust me its is quite enjoyable after that, going thru those training with ur commrades.. r u frm an all boy or co ed sch. i was from ACS in the past. Perservere. dun give up so easily. like tat cannot tahan wat abt army( hardcore one) ??

me too must have 2 ccas mah. one uniform one sports.. NCC was the onli one availiable.. not so popular among the 12 uniform grps
but i did not regret.

I have two friends in NCC who also wanna quit, and one of them stopped coming to NCC trainings already. However, the NCC teacher in charge says that when other ppl are having training then he must go and see the teacher and get detention. ALso, it is said that although my friend dun hav to go to trainings anymore, whether he can go to JC or not remained to be a problem to him.
What shall i do? Haiz, realli wanna leave this hell soon! -

Last time, our first CCA is our Primary CCA.The second one is like an elective, and whether you actually join a CCA or not, it has no bleddy impact on your next destination.

Then some ppl said they wanna quit CCAs like NCC and track and field, and told the principal that they have already told the CCA teacher that they wanna quit, but the principal only said that he will ask the CCA teacher to look into the matter and said no more. -
