Perjury is an offence, but it seems that our press aren't interested in covering such cases - if the perpetuators are tried in the first place.

I am not a lawyer but in another forum, someone who says he is a lawyer said they perjury charges could be filed against SW/family. The SW easily received a settlement from SingTel so she thought this is another easy case. I hope ST is following the case and sue her for her deceitful medical history and return of the money they paid with interest!
How come Mediacorp never recruited her ah? Her acting better than so many of their top actors!
I agree with you Kuali Baba that our press isn't interested in covering such cases. In the beginning they were all so excited as they thought its another case to drag the Church down. But once its clear that the SW and family has no intergrity and are money greedy liars and cheats, they lost interest.

No, not malice. But often, the press are rather careless. When I was not so familiar with the Catholic Church, I didn't have a good impression from reading newspapers and from listening to Protestant pastors and some protestant friends.
Anyway the press is only really careful when it comes to one religion!

Defendants' lawyers Dennis Tan and Anthony Lee lost their composure in court after Amutha's lawyer RS Bajwa called Father Simon Tan a liar and asked God to forgive him.
The lawyers, who are representing six other Novena Church members in the case, demanded Mr Bajwa apologised for insulting someone's religion. Father Tan is not represented by the lawyers.
But Mr Bajwa maintained he was merely blessing Father Tan. In reply, the Novena Church priest said he was not offended, as Mr Bajwa was just doing his job.
On his second day of cross examination, Father Tan maintained he had conducted a prayer of deliverance over Amutha. But he conceded parts of the process were similar to the rite of exorcism.
As to whether Amutha had been allowed to go to the toilet on the day of the incident in August 2004, Father Tan said Amutha had only asked to go to the toilet once. He had also asked Amutha's daughter and two woman churchgoers to accompany her.
When Amutha became violent, Father Tan said other church members had held on to her ankles and not her thigh.
The hearing continues Friday with Father Jacob Ong, the other co-accused priest, taking the stand. - CNA /ls -

How "kind" of Mr Bajwa. Like the Pharasee (wrong spelling!), he should be more concerned for his soul and the souls of the despicable family. Any other lawyer would not have taken the case or when the proceedings clearly show the client has a deceitful medical record, the testimony of her family members are full of gaping holes and lies would have advised them to drop the case. I guess he thought that he would make a name for himself by being the lawyer of the SW. Yes, he has made a name for himself but its one I cannot repeat in good company! Lets see what happens to his legal profession after the case is over. God bless you and forgive you then Mr Bajwa!

haha, good one! Especially in this case, we have the lawyer, the SW and her tiger so-called sworn brother! Sorry for posting again but I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I was at the Courthouse yesterday. Fr Simon did a great job on the stand. What a contrast to the way the SW and her family conducted themselves. Fr Simon rocks! -
