SINGAPORE : MobileOne has started technical trials for a wireless broadband technology that could mean the end of physical wires for high-speed Internet access.
The mobile phone company says the new technology will let users surf the Internet wirelessly at speeds of more than one megabit per second.
This is similar to speeds offered by traditional digital subscriber line or DSL broadband connections and cable networks.
But the attraction is that it is broadband without wires, just like using your mobile phone for voice communications.
Users do not need to be tied down by physical connections in a home or office.
M1 plans to test three variants of wireless broadband technology.
Each trial will last between one and two months.
M1 is aiming to be the leader in personal voice and data communications. - CNA
