Uni? More academic based? What have you been doing? Accounting? Business Administration? That little bit of skill and hands-on you get in poly cannot be compared to what you touch in uni. In uni, you learn to become a professional.Originally posted by sbst275:I can only say that uni and poly learn in 2 dif ways
Uni - More Academic based
Poly - More skills and experience based
Both uni and poly have hands-on too, job attachment programs are for real and those FYP, lab experiments are in industry standards as wellOriginally posted by sbst275:I can only say that uni and poly learn in 2 dif ways

Actually, for poly... The 2nd or 3rd year is fully doing attachments for course like Bussiness (Certain)Originally posted by OrneryBoy:Both uni and poly have hands-on too, job attachment programs are for real and those FYP, lab experiments are in industry standards as well
Then uni grads happy if they can't find one lah, issit?Originally posted by sbst275:Of course pay dif... But poly ppl happy if they can get a job already as times is so bad
All equally happy lah... Just that poly ppl would think lesser chance as got ppl with degree looking for the same jobOriginally posted by ditzy:Then uni grads happy if they can't find one lah, issit?

I have to make it clear is that it depends on employers as well

actually it's not totally because the companies really need very experienced people, it's that many grads simply leave the job after a while if they can find another job with a higher pay... after all the time and money put in to train themOriginally posted by ditzy:Coz companies are looking for experience. Then the thing is, if you don't work or find employment, how you gonna gain experience to begin with, when no one wants to employ you when you have no experience.
umm... i'm from engineering of a local U, it's quite true that the course is a bit academic based. i dunno abt polys though, probably only those who went from poly to uni can answer the hands-on vs academic qn.Originally posted by ditzy:Uni? I have to agree with you that Singapore uni is indeed more academic based, 100% results and all the horror stories I get from my pals in there. I took engineering in an overseas uni in Oz, they focused much more on real world applications, not 100% in books or writing, but in hands on and research areas. So I guess, such experiences vary from people to people.Originally posted by UandMe:umm... i'm from engineering of a local U, it's quite true that the course is a bit academic based. i dunno abt polys though, probably only those who went from poly to uni can answer the hands-on vs academic qn.
