Olinda voted out of Singapore Idol contest

SINGAPORE: The results are out: the first Singapore Idol is going to be either Taufik Batisah or Sylvester Sim.
Olinda Cho was voted out after Thursday's Movie and Musical episode.
The result was announced on Friday.
Olinda had the lowest number of votes, but her elimination disappointed hordes of fans who have been supporting her for more than nine weeks.
NSman Taufik Batisah and 21-year-old Sylvester Sim will compete at the grand final to be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, 1 December.
Tickets will be given away through contests held on MediaCorp's various TV channels, Perfect 10 radio station, 8 Days and the TODAY newspaper. - CNA -

I feel sad for Olinda and Taufick because they have to work so hard while all you do is smile!!!! -
whoever wins and gets the contract... its still not worth the money to buy his/her album

Seriously, if Suxvester wins, I do not find it surprising, considering the kind of so called "music lovers" we have in asia. In every part of the world, we have so called fans who love the person because he is handsome or she is pretty more than the music or talent itself...BUT ALAS....in the western part of the world, we have an equally big group of people who do recognise talents thus you get people who are damn ugly coming thru as stars too.....
But in Asia...if you are not good looking, most likely you are OUT! got minority does make it like Zhao Chuan but even then, they will never be as big as say Aaron Kwok during his time cos he is not handsome enuff.
So there you go, Singapore is in Asia, you would expect how the "music lovers" would vote... looks over talent. -

i watched yesterday's news, the olinda's fans cried and olinda comforted them don't cry and she herself was controlling her tears too. even the judges like florence lian also moved to tears.
i guess olinda has tried her best.

Olinda may be voted out but if she ever produces a Jazz album, I'll purchase it because I think she has great vocals.
In life, just because you win an award or title does not mean you are 'the best' and that those who didn't win are lousy. To put is simply, the classmate that always gets to be No. 1 in place will not necessarily end up the most successful career-wise or whatever other yardsticks you choose to use.
In Singapore Idols, as in American Idols and whatever-idols, it's a matter of who manages to get the most fired-up fans who'll call again and again and again to vote for them. Sounds more like a popularity vote than anything.
This probably reinforces one lesson about life - sometimes, it's not the hard work or talent that counts, but the Public Relations and the currying favour and licking boots that count. I mean, it's not usually the 'best' employee that gets the promotion, rather, it's the boss' pet(s).
