SINGAPORE : SingTel has completed the roll-out its 3G network islandwide.
It says a recently-concluded month-long 3G trial drew positive feedback from 150 trial customers.
Half of its respondents would be willing to pay reasonable prices to subscribe to 3G services if these were to be available.
The trial also showed that video calls, video streaming and the IDEAS 3G portal were among the most commonly tried services.
The telco says it will also look into some suggestions on additional contents riding on 3G.
It is still planning to launch its 3G services commercially in the first quarter of next year.
SingTel is aiming to develop new audiences through the convergence of video calls across the mobile, fixed line and broadband Internet platforms.
Separately, SingTel sealed an agreement with Royal KPN, the biggest phone company in The Netherlands.
Under the deal, both telcos will share each other's internet-based networks, connecting each other's customers.
The interconnection of both carriers' IP-VPN MPLS networks enables them to leverage each other's extensive networks in their respective markets in Asia Pacific and Europe.
With this partnership collaboration, SingTel and KPN are now able to offer their corporate customers a one-stop service - with seamless connectivity and fully managed networking solutions - that is highly reliable and secure across Asia Pacific, Europe and the US. - CNA
