SPH MediaWorks staff offered jobs at MediaCorp meet new mana

SINGAPORE : Some 200 employees from Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), who were offered jobs at Mediacorp, met the new management on Wednesday.
This comes after the two companies announced the merger of their mass-market TV and studio operations.
For some returning former MediaCorp staff, it was also a homecoming of sorts.
Mr Ix Shen, Artiste at SPH MediaWorks, said: "I am anticipating the future cooperation I will be working with my ex-collegues and a lot of them are my close friends still, like Peng Hui and Vincent."
These SPH employees have been offered positions in MediaCorp.
And while they have a week to decide, the session was also a chance for them to meet their new bosses.
For many, once the discussion broke into little groups, it was the nuts and bolts of their new job scope that took up most of the attention.
And there was reassurance from the top.
Mr Ernest Wong, Group CEO of MediaCorp, said: "There are bound to be some kinks and true enough, there are one or two kinks. They are not insurmountable.
"These are the things when in theory you put everything in practice, initially there will be some problems and we will iron them out. I don't see it as a big problem. Heartened by what we see and everyone raring to go and we are ready 1st January."
And with more certainty now, the mood was also one of anticipation.
Mr Darren Lim, Artiste at SPH MediaWorks, said: "Our new bosses are very welcoming to everybody...we just have to come with open hearts and see what is lying ahead of us.
"I will take each day as it comes and my job is very simple. I am an actor, I just have to get into my role, get into character and deliver my work."
Mr Ernest Loh, Cameraman at SPH MediaWorks, said: "We are looking forward to the new job because it is still the same job that we are going to do, but only different environment."
Ms Corrine Lam, Product Development Executive at SPH MediaWorks, said: "At least, I am assured that I still have a job and my offer is something I am excited to get into."
The majority of those at the meeting have already expressed interest in working at MediaCorp. - CNA -
