SINGAPORE : Alleged drug traffickers Marx Oh and Tunisian Guiga Laroussi were slapped with more drug-related charges on Monday.
The two men and a third suspect, Mariana Abdullah, were in court on Monday afternoon for a pre-trial conference.
Five new charges were levelled at 31-year-old Marx Oh.
He now faces a total of 7 charges which include trafficking of 21.67 grammes of cocaine.
While 35-year-old Tunisian Guiga Laroussi had another 17 charges filed against him for drug related offences.
This brings the total number of charges to 18, including one for allegedly trafficking 25.32 grammes of cocaine.
The lawyer for Laroussi and Oh, Subhas Anandan, said: "Additional charges are consumption, possession, trafficking again, but all of smaller quantities."
Like fellow suspects, Marianna, Oh and Larroussi had escaped the death penalty after tests showed the amount of cocaine they are alleged to have trafficked was less than the 30 grammes in purity.
The case will be mentioned again on 20th January pending drug analysis reports from overseas research institutes.
"We are asking the prosecution to give us the working papers of the HSA so that the papers can be sent to laboratories in Europe for them to check whether the calculations and the reports of the HSA are correct or not. We got three institutes that we have found that was capable of doing this analysis." added Anandan.
He added that the disappearance of drug suspect Jeremy Mahen Chanmugam has no impact on Laroussi's case, but it could affect one charge that Oh's facing, because Marx Oh had allegedly trafficked drugs to Chanmugam.
If convicted, the trio will face between 20 year's jail and life imprisonment.
The men will additionally face 15 strokes of the cane. - CNA
