SINGAPORE : MediaCorp's TV and Radio platforms will carry 'live' broadcasts of Sunday's memorial service for the victims of Asia's tsunami tragedy.
The service, organised by an inter-agency committee led by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, will be held at the Singapore Expo Hall 2 from 5pm.
It will be open to the public and will be an occasion to remember those who are affected by the disaster.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will address the gathering and religious leaders from nine religions will lead the prayers.
A national minute of silence will be conducted throughout Singapore at about 6pm after the Tsunami Disaster Memorial Service.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force will sound an alert through its Public Warning System to kickstart the observance.
Members of the public are encouraged to join in.
Another alert will be sounded to signal the end of the one-minute silence.
During the one-minute silence, all of MediaCorp's channels will interrupt programming for one minute as a mark of respect.
The memorial service will be broadcast 'live' in English on Channel NewsAsia and TV Mobile from 4.45pm to 6pm.
MediaCorp Radio's NewsRadio 93.8FM will broadcast the service 'live' in English from 4.55pm to 6pm.
