SINGAPORE : There has been a delay in the plans for a cross-trading link between the Singapore and Malaysian stock exchanges.
Bursa Malaysia's CEO Yusli Mohamed Yusoff says it is being pushed back to 2006.
The link was initially planned for the end of this year, and would allow brokers in Malaysia and Singapore to trade stocks on both exchanges.
But Bursa Malaysia says more time is needed to put in a trading link mechanism.
Plans for a cross-trading link were first announced in June last year.
The SGX has also confirmed the delay.
In a statement, SGX says the cross-trading link will be launched after both exchanges have implemented their new trading systems.
And that is now expected to be at the end of 2006. - CNA
