SINGAPORE : Upper primary students will soon learn the value of dollars and cents in a fun way. They'll be getting tips on money management courtesy of a new superhero, Agent Penny.
The Adventures of Agent Penny is a joint collaboration between Citibank and the Learning Society.
"We say that maybe if we make it fun, so that it's easier for the Upper Primary school children between 10 and 12 to understand it, and with that we have Agent Penny as the character with which we could introduce all the concepts of how to save money, budgeting, and what we saw today." said Lee Ah Boon, Country Business Manager of Citibank Singapore.
Apart from comics, Citibank and the Learning Society hope to spread their message at schools and community libraries, through interactive skits and games.
As spending power increases among students, such programmes could not have come at a better time.
Minister of State for Education, Chan Soo Sen, said, "Money is hard to come by, and yet there are many opportunities to spend money. Many of these opportunities to spend money are particularly attractive and appear to be cool to younger people."
Hence the need for Agent Penny and her tips on spending wisely. - CNA
