SINGAPORE : The Total Defence Campaign is getting a facelift.
There will be new Total Defence icons from 15th February, and its theme song will also be revamped, with the updated version sung by Singapore Idol finalist Olinda Cho.
These initiatives are part of a new direction in the campaign this year, which aims to reach out to the younger generation of Singaporeans.
The highlight of the campaign is a nationwide photo competition where Singaporeans are encouraged to send in examples of Total Defence in action.
The competition is open from 15 February to 15 May, and winning entries will be showcased at this year's National Day Carnival at Marina Bay.
The acting director of Nexus (Ministry of Defence), COL Gavin Chay said, "With the photographs we hope that people can see that these are really simple things we can do in everyday living whether at work, at play or at leisure. The simple things like different races sitting down together at a table in the tuckshop, in schools, and ordering different kinds of food and eating together, and have a good time together. That's really social defence in action." - CNA
