SINGAPORE : The Slim 10 legal saga continues with the sole surviving family member of Ms Selvarani Raja, who died after taking the Slim 10 diet pills, suing the distributor TV Media and retailer NTUC Healthcare for her sister's death.
The writ was filed with the High Court on Tuesday by lawyers on behalf of Sharlin Raja.
Her sister, 42-year-old logistics officer Selvarani Raja, died in June 2002 after being admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The coroner had ruled Slim 10 caused Ms Raja liver failure and death.
Her sister is now seeking damages for the pain and suffering of her late sibling, bereavement, psychiatric injury and loss of dependency.
Lawyers say it is unlikely that Ms Raja's family will get as much as former TV host Andrea D'Cruz, who was awarded $900,000 two years ago in her legal battle. - CNA
