SINGAPORE : Singapore Democratic Party leader Chee Soon Juan's counter suit against Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has been dismissed by the High Court.
Mr Lee sued Dr Chee for libel in December 2001. Dr Chee filed a counter claim, but only took action on it late last year.
According to Mr Lee's press secretary, Dr Chee had missed a 28 February deadline to tell the court who is funding him, and what benefits he has received from his backers.
Mr Lee had earlier applied to the court for Dr Chee to state the truth on this.
Mr Lee's press secretary says Dr Chee "knows that his answers will reveal that he is colluding with foreigners who are paying him to run down Singapore and its leaders."
Instead, he has let his claim for damages against Mr Lee be dismissed. - CNA
