In the recent Western Australian state elections(in a country where literacy levels are way lower than SG,), they had a concurrent referendum on longer trading hours for small businesses outside of City Of Perth district.Three weeks before the vote, fact sheets outlining both sides fo the arguments were distributed to each household. The points are printed in clear and straightfoward language.
What we can do here is for the Elections Commission to do the same, but present both sides of the argument in the four major languages.Laziness in exercising our democratic rights only serves to mean that we do not deserve to live as a civilised and proud society, but a people in the chains of apathy.
