SINGAPORE : A Ministerial statement on whether Singapore will proceed with the casino proposal will be made in Parliament on April 18.
This was revealed by Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, during his ministry's budget debate.
Earlier this week Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang told the House that when the statement is made, MPs can seek clarifications from the Minister and make their own positions clear.
Mr Lim had also reiterated the government's position, made clear by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong when debate on the budget statement was wrapped up.
Mr Lee had said that while public feedback will be taken into account, at the end of the day the Cabinet will have to make the choice. - CNA
