SINGAPORE : It's a cat-and-mouse game for the ladies of the night and the police in Geylang.
Surveillance cameras installed in some lanes last month have prompted the women to move to new territory in the area.
And some residents are unhappy.
When night falls, things used to heat up in Geylang Lorong 21.
But eversince the police installed surveillance cameras last month, the street walkers are nowhere to be seen there.
Instead, they have turn up in hordes at Lorongs 23 and 24.
Residents say the area has been peaceful for the past three to four years, after police raids rid the area of streetwalkers.
Now, the women are back.
Unsettled, some residents are even contemplating of moving out.
Residents say surveillance cameras will drive the women away.
In response, the police say they are constantly reviewing new public areas for further expansion of the cameras. - CNA

I have notice the surveillance cameras are placed in even number streets and very interesting they are using wireless to transmit the signals.
I wonder who monitor all those video. I think can make Geylang story after that.
Wasting tax payer money. Not as if the authorities are rounding up all the whores.

Thats why I advocated leaving these vices alone, allow them to congregate in 1 place, you put up cameras in a redlight area for vices, they will of course flee into the neighbourhoods.
Just like when they raided these china prostitute in the past, they fled to the heartland neighbourhoods where until today still not able to dislodge.
Now you put cameras in these small private residental neighbourhoods you will chase them out but then they will end up in someplaces like near schools, libraries or even hospitals then you will have big problem trying to differentiate and dislodge them.
Just leave them alone.
