Applications open for NDP tickets, goody bags

SINGAPORE : Those who cannot be at the Padang for this year's National Day Parade can join the party at three other locations - Yishun, Tampines and Jurong East - and still get the sought-after NDP goody bag.
The electronic balloting system, which started two years ago, will again be adopted to distribute parade tickets.
But this time, besides tickets to the Padang, funpack coupons for NDP goody bags are also up for balloting.
Said Dexter Teo, chairman of NDP Ticketing, "In the past year, we distributed about hundred thousand funpacks at the National Stadium for the NDP celebrations. For this year, due to Padang seating capacity, we'll be distributing about fifty thousand. The rest of the funpacks will be distributed to the celebrations at the heartlands, for the general public to enjoy the same mood as the NDP."
And this year, instead of using professional designers, organisers turned to six students from Temasek Polytechnic for the funpack's design.
Said Sam Wong of Temasek Polytechnic, "Most of the time, they were willing to spend on ideas that we wouldn't dream of, that they would come and manufacture a real product from students' work."
The concept behind the funpack is versatility, so both young and old can use it every day, even after the parade.
There are three ways to apply for the funpack coupons or NDP tickets -- through SMS, over the Internet, or through any AXS or SAM machine.

Stage Two: Vacancy for people living within two km of Jurong East Central
Stage Three: Vacancy for people living within three km of Jurong East Central
Stage Four: Vacancy for people who are living outside of the three km boundary, and former Jurong Easters or their children
Stage Five: Ballotting
