Singapore is deploying a Republic of Singapore Air Force KC-135 tanker aircraft to support the multinational effort for the reconstruction of Iraq.
The Defence Ministry said the Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Ng Yat Chung, officiated at the send-off ceremony at Changi Air Base on Monday morning.
The KC-135 detachment comprises 35 personnel.
During its three-month deployment, it will conduct air-to-air refuelling missions in support of the multinational forces.
This is the second time that Singapore has deployed a KC-135 tanker aircraft to help with the reconstruction of Iraq.
