SINGAPORE : Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has made some Cabinet changes, effective from July 1.
A statement said that Manpower Minister Ng Eng Hen will relinquish his appointment as Second Minister for Education and become Second Minister for Defence.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Othman Haron Eusofe has stepped down from his post.
He will continue as Chairman of Marine Parade Town Council.
The Prime Minister thanks Mr Othman for his many contributions to the government and community.
Mr Othman was Minister of State in the Manpower Minister for almost five years.
Following that , he was South-East Community Development Council Mayor for some three years.
NTUC says Mr Othman will remain in the National Trades Union Congress as Divisional Director, Corporate Services until he retires at the end of the year.
Mr Othman joined the NTUC in August 1980, and held the position of Deputy Secretary-General, NTUC, from August 1993 to January 1997.
He then left the NTUC to serve as Minister of State at the Ministry of Labour, which was later renamed as the Ministry of Manpower. - CNA/ms
