SINGAPORE : Mr Gerard Ee has begun his first day of work as the interim CEO of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
Dialysis sessions have continued at NFK centres amidst the public outcry.
So far, no staff members have left and the new boss started his first day at work with a meeting for all front-line employees.
"It's really to tell the staff that I'm here for them, to carry on the good work and not get distracted by all the noise because patients are primary in their cause," said Gerard Ee, NKF's interim CEO.
While some members of the public are still coming in to cancel donations, others have been turning up on Monday to give their support for the new management."
Said Ronnie Lai, an NKF donor: "Just a small token of $99.99. In Chinese it's called "jiu jiu," that means I hope the spirits of NKF can carry on for a long time to come."
Another donor Tan Heng Nam has kept his $20 monthly donation running throughout the saga.
He believes Mr Ee will take a neutral position while investigations are underway.
"He's very friendly and honest and he can be trusted. Whatever the report or the feedback coming out (from him), I believe it can be trusted," said NKF donor Tan Heng Nam.
Mr Ee is expecting a rocky time ahead.
With so many stakeholders involved, he says it will be difficult to meet everyone's expectations.
And his decision not to accept any pay is sure to impress many.
