SINGAPORE: Singapore Petroleum Company Limited (SPC) said it will list all its pump prices on LED signages at all 39 petrol stations from Wednesday.
This in response to a recent Parliament discussion on the display of pump prices by petrol retailers.
Member of Parliament for Tampines, Mr Ong Kian Min had asked whether the government would consider requiring petrol stations to display actual pump prices, not just percentage discounts in light of the varying percentage discounts offered at different pump stations.
Trade and Industry Minister Mr Lim Hng Kiang agreed that would be 'consumer-friendly' and encouraged all petrol stations to do so.
SPC said pump prices will be listed with its product grade on a static screen which will be rotated on a screen by screen basis, not as scrolling text.
The company will also provide other promotional information like pump price discounts and special offers prominently on site to help motorists make their purchasing decisions.
SPC also uses direct mailers, print advertisements, radio commercials and the internet to inform their customers of the latest promotions on petrol.
Other oil companies said they already had various methods of communicating petrol prices to their customers. - CNA /dt
