Scenes from the past and in living colour.
Now, you can see what Singapore was like as far back as the 1950s.
Colour videos taken from a private collector's dark room can now be played in every Singaporean's living room.
Thanks to Dr Ivan Polunin.
The Briton captured and kept all footage of Singapore in the 1950s and 60s.
Thanks to him and students from Temasek Polytechnic's Communication and Media Management Programme, Singaporeans can relive the good old days in a series of heritage videos called "The Way We Were", produced specially for National Day.
Michelle Yeang, producer of the videos, said: "Hearing the story from your grandmother is just different from seeing it for yourself. How the kids were then,......life was so hard.....but at the same time, life was so simple and people had so much fun."
From 10 August, you can catch "The Way We Were" on MediaCorp TV Channel 8's "Good Morning Singapore" programme.
Snippets of it will also be shown on Channel 8, from 7 August.
The videos are also available on the NDP Commemorative CD-ROM which also has fun and interactive games.
Christine Thamrin, the designer of the CD-ROM, said: "The games capture the essence of NDP which is very fun and exciting. Also, the children can learn about National Day values while playing the games."
The commemorative CD-ROM will be among the items in the National Day funpacks. - CNA/ir
