Man arrested for leaving suspicious package at Hougang MRT S

SINGAPORE : A 42-year-old man has been arrested for leaving a suspicious package at Hougang MRT Station.
On August 12, police were notified about an abandoned package at Hougang MRT station.
The package wrapped in white paper contained empty canned food tins and some food packaging.
Police managed to trace the suspect and also found similar items in his flat.
The suspect will be charged in court on August 18 for an offence of Prohibition Against False Threats of Terrorists Acts which carries a fine not exceeding $100,000 or to an imprisonment term not exceeding five years or both.
The suspect is also believed to be involved in a similar hoax which took place on board a SBS bus on July 7 this year. - CNA/de -
