SINGAPORE : Most Singaporeans live in high rise flats or on land, but one Singaporean woman and her family has been living on a boat.
A 12.5 metre sailboat is home to Wang Meng Ngee, her husband Franck Ibanez and their 14-month-old daughter Carmen.
The couple bought the boat two years ago and embarked on their unique way of life.
The experience is new to Meng, who used to live in a flat, but Franck is used to living and travelling far and wide in a boat.
For now the couple's favourite destination is the humble Kusu Island.
The couple said they went there to pray for children -- the second one is on the way.
"You see, it's wonderful and it works," they said.
Ten other families also live by the Raffles Marina, making up a United Nations of sorts.
A passion for nature and the sea has brought them together.
The families even take turns to cook weekend dinners.
Franck, who is used to living on water, says he has never considered going back on land.
He said, "Right now, we're focusing on the adventures that are coming out, raising children in a boat while we are discovering some other places in the world." - CNA /ct
