A 38-year-old woman who had recently returned from Vietnam and complained of fever has tested negative for the H5N1 virus, which causes avian flu.
The woman had been isolated at the Communicable Disease Centre, as a precautionary measure because she had travelled to Vietnam recently.
The case started when the woman, who is Vietnamese but married to a Singaporean, complained of fever and giddiness on Saturday.
Her husband initially took her to a Woodlands clinic near where they live.
She was later taken by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and warded at the CDC.
It is understood full precautionary measures such a N95 masks and full protective clothing were used in the transfer. - CNA/ch
