Impending 3 corner fight

  DPP insists it will contest MacPherson
  
  SINGAPORE : The Democratic Progressive Party has insisted that it will contest the single-seat constituency of MacPherson, which has also been staked by the Singapore Democratic Alliance.
  
  In an e-mail to the media late Friday night, DPP Chairman Mansor Rahman pointed out that the DPP has given way to the Workers' Party, which wants to contest in the East Coast GRC.
  
  He added that the SDA itself has won agreement to contest three other single seats -- Chua Chu Kang, Potong Pasir and Yio Chu Kang.
  
  As such, MacPherson is the only seat the DPP is contesting.
  
  The opposition parties met on Friday night to work out an electoral pact, which however left the issue of MacPherson unresolved.
  
  After the meeting, SDA Chairman Chiam See Tong told the media he believed the issue could still be settled amicably.
  
  However Mr Mansor Rahman's e-mail left no doubt that as far as the DPP was concerned, it was contesting MacPherson -- whatever the SDA might say at subsequent meetings.
  
  In past General Elections, opposition candidates in three or four-cornered fights generally lost their election deposits.
  
  In the coming elections, the election deposit has been set at S$13,500. - CNA /ct

  Multi-cornered fights are only good if preferential voting like what has been practiced in the Australian polls is applied.

  I guess I/m too old to enter the race or else it will be four corners fight too, since I enjoy politicking but cannot afford to lose the the 13 K needed to get hooked to the system..
  
  It will be good to have multi-corners fights, and why not?
