SINGAPORE : Clifford Pier is set to take its place in Singapore's history books when it receives its last boats this Friday.
The pier, which was built in 1933, will cease operations as a public landing point from April 1 to make way for the construction of the Marina barrage.
All ferry and launch services at Clifford Pier will move to Marina South Pier.
Customs, immigration and quarantine facilities will be available at the Marina South Pier, which is located at 31 Marina Coastal Drive.
Immigration clearance procedures will remain unchanged.
Visitors can still walk into Clifford Pier as the site has been safeguarded for conservation.
The land surrounding the pier will be developed into a retail, leisure and entertainment centre.
A new bus service will be introduced to serve the Marina South Pier. - CNA/de
