Southbound KTM services to Singapore hit by train derailmentSINGAPORE : Southbound train services between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore were disrupted on Saturday following the derailment of the Express Senaran Petang train.
Operator KTM Berhad says the incident happened at about 5.25pm near Gemas-Air Kuning in Negeri Sembilan.
The derailment involved five passenger coaches, with some 156 passengers on board.
Eight passengers sustained minor injuries; the rest escape injury.
Four of the injured were treated at Klinik Kesihatan Air Kuning, while another four were taken to Tampin Hospital for outpatient treatment.
The rest were then sent to Kuala Lumpur on 56 buses.
Trains for the Singapore-Tumpat route are not affected.
KTM Berhad says track repair works have started and normal service is expected to resume by 9.30am on Monday.
This incident comes almost two weeks after a cargo train carrying sugar derailed in Singapore in the Lower Delta Road area, affecting more than a thousand passengers. - CNA /ct
