Crocodile man, Steve Irwin, dies.

Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, has died after being stung by a stingray in Queensland, according to reports.
Mr Irwin apparently died in a marine accident on the Great Barrier Reef, initial reports say.
A spokeswoman for Irwin's Australia Zoo said she was aware of the reports but the zoo would not be making any statements at this stage.

The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead.
He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said.
It is understood he was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest.
He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.
Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

Well, I know for one the stingray barb can pierce through bone but I really wonder what he was doing if it went through his chest....
As well, even if it missed his heart, the venom can be very fatal. Stingrays produce a protein based venom which can cause seizures -

How right...it dun have to pierce the heart ; anywhere on the chest and it'll paralyse the muscles around the heart and strangles it. For that matter, the same venom exists in catfish too so please tread water with much care. I mean if you were to touch the sting with your bare hands without it piercing your skin, you can get a painful tingle in your hands and it can swell for a whole day
so you can imagine how poisonous it is.
Anyway to treat stingray stings before seeking medical attention is to submerge the stung area in hot water...as hot as you can take it or apply papain.... papaya extract used in meat tenderizers. -

Rest in peace Steve. You will be sadly missed although I know you are now in a better place.

I know he's in the most dangerous job. But I never expected him to be killed by a stingray (always thought he would probably be hurt by crocodiles or other reptiles).
It's sad to lose him. We have all learnt so much about animals from his documentary.

I always remember him as a hyper host. He is so daring.
But yeah, always wonder if he were to die, he will die of a crocodile attack. Not stingray. -
