SINGAPORE: An SBS Transit driver was arrested for drink driving after the bus he was driving crashed into a lamp-post at the junction of Victoria Street and Ophir Road on Wednesday morning.
A Police spokesman, who confirmed the incident and arrest, said the accident happened at around 9.30am.
As a result of the accident, the bus mounted onto the pedestrian curb outside the Raffles Hospital.
Four passengers were believed to be in the bus then, but no one was injured.
Meanwhile, SBS Transit said it was appalled at the incident and has suspended the driver with immediate effect.
SBS Transit's Director of Corporate Communications, Tammy Tan, added that if the driver is charged with the offence, he will be sacked.
The company has also apologised to the affected passengers and is relieved there were no injuries. - CNA/ir
