SINGAPORE: Toy manufacturer Mattel has again recalled a batch of China-made toys.
Barbie furniture playsets - Barbie Premium Furniture Playset assortment, Barbie Ultimate Furniture Playset and Barbie Deluxe Furniture Playset assortment - retailed between last November and this August are the ones affected.
No Barbie dolls are included in the recall.
Mattel made the move after ongoing investigations showed the toys contain excessive levels of lead.
It added that the playsets were produced by a Chinese contract vendor, which then subcontracted the painting of miniature toy pets and small furniture pieces to two companies which used uncertified paint.
These companies are no longer producing toys for Mattel.
Worldwide, 320,000 of the affected playsets have been sold. - CNA/ac
