SINGAPORE: Police officers joined a team from Health Sciences Authority (HSA) Tuesday evening to conduct a raid on stalls selling unapproved medicines at Desker Road.
About ten stalls lined the back alleys and some were selling medications that included prescriptive drug Viagra.
Although a few stall owners managed to escape, those who were caught had to give their particulars to the police.
The drugs were confiscated for investigation.
Stall owners will face legal action if the drugs are confirmed to be illegal.
HSA said 16 similar cases have been brought to court.
In two cases, jail terms of between four and six months were imposed. Fines between S$2,000 and S$22,000 were issued on 11 other cases. The verdicts of the remaining three cases have yet to be announced. - CNA/ac
