Malaysia Building Disney Land in JB?

Singapore IR and tourism will take a blow if Malaysia Disneyland is a success.
Sunday 30 Sep 2007 - AP - WALT Disney is holding talks with Malyasia's investment arm Khazanah Nasional about developing a theme park in southern Johor state facing Singapore, a business paper reported on Sunday.
The Edge, a business weekly, said Walt Disney officials met officials from Khazanah last week on developing a park in the Iskandar Development Region.
'They (Walt Disney) met Khazanah managing director Azman Mokhtar and had discussions with other top Khazanah executives,' it said.
But it said Khazanah was also in negotiations with other theme park players including Warner Brothers.
The Edge said Khazanah would make a decision on its choice of partner by year's end.
The report comes amid ongoing construction work on the Universal Studios theme park in Singapore.
Malaysia has embarked on an ambitious development plan to spread growth and jobs in Johor state, and has been keen to attract investment from the Middle East.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi hopes to attract 50 billion ringgit (S$21.09 billion) to the Iskandar Development Region over five years. -

IR is to earn businessmen and adult money !!! Disneyland is to earn kids money.
Why not, if JB can have disneyland, as people will still stay in singapore and go over there for short visit.
Also disneyland - look at hong kong one - you call that a success ? Wonder how much the malaysia government want to sink in and if they will recover their money... !!!
Well maybe also good - all the robbers dress as mickey mouse and donald duck wait out side disney park to rob people, let the local residents and us to go shopping in JB safer !!! -
after multi-media super corridor, cyberjaya and all those "super projects" ... I'm not betting money on Johor Disneyland ... -
last time also got such a news, but in the end it was called a bluff by walt disney side.
disney land got casino or not? if dun hav den i think nt sustainable?

I don't think it'll be built ....
cos if there's one there, everytime the US bombs some terrorist ... or the Israelis takes a walk somewhere in the middle east ... there'll be riots and all that .....
and some of the disney stuff are not exactly .... "okay" ? ...
imagine what snow white, the little mermaid, or esmeralda will be forced to wear ... -

and i seriously dun think many johoreans will go to disneyland to play lo. i bet their sunway lagoon will be more popular den disneyland if dey build one, just like how hongkong's ocean park is more popular den their disneyland... -

Everytime Malaysia come up with something, ppl will say Singapore die.
Singapore is not afraid of competition, infact Singapore welcome competition.
Also Singapore hope Malaysia will be a challenge for Singapore.
So far, Singapore is not afraid of any initiatives by Malaysia, because Malaysia always hinder themselves (and blame Singapore).
They can build Disneyland, but to run and maintain it long term, they'll need the Chinese, Indians and Ang Mohs. And they will not let go of their racially discriminatory practices. -
imagine the faces when they saw goofy and pluto as mascots...
