SINGAPORE : Beauty World Centre was hit by a power outage on Saturday night.
According to SP Power Grid, the power outage in the building was due to a fault in Beauty World Centre’s electrical installation.
A member of the public who called Channel NewsAsia’s news hotline about the incident claimed that an explosion was heard at about 8.20pm and people were seen evacuating the building.
When contacted, the management of the building said that no one was injured and there was no fire.
It added that the incident occurred in the building’s high tension sub—station, but that the transformer was not affected.
It said power to the building was cut, but lights in the common areas and fire exits were being powered by a generator.
Plans are underway to restore the power disruption, by getting a temporary generator to supply the 80 apartment units and a few shops there with power.
The management is also preparing a circular to be distributed to the affected tenants about the incident. — CNA/ms
